SCAM ALERT: The Arizona Law Enforcement Canine Association (A.L.E.C.A.), who administers this web site and oversees the care and updating of The Arizona Police K-9 Memorial located at Wesley Bolin Plaza, has recently learned that unauthorized person or persons claiming to represent A.L.E.C.A., have been contacting citizens by phone and attempting to solicit donations. A.L.E.C.A. never uses phone solicitors to raise funding, but instead receives membership fees, sells merchandise and receives unsolicited donations. If you have been contacted by a person claiming to represent A.L.E.C.A. and you have donated, immediately contact Owen Keefe, owen@azk9memorial.net, who will refer you to the proper law enforcement agency in order to file a crime report.

The Arizona Police K-9 Memorial was unveiled and dedicated on April 7th, 2006, at the Wesley Bolin Plaza. The purpose of the memorial is to honor Arizona Police K-9’s who gave their life in the line of duty. Guest speakers at the dedication ceremony included Andy Swann, Department of Public Safety, who was also the Master of Ceremonies for the event, Gordon Leitz, President of ALECA, Terry Goddard, State Attorney General, Jim Waring, Arizona State Senator, Phil Gordon, Mayor of the City of Phoenix, Roger Vanderpool, Director of the Department of Public Safety, Chief Richard Miranda, Police Chief of the City of Tucson Police Department, and Owen Keefe, Treasurer of ALECA.

The members of the Arizona Law Enforcement Canine Association, ALECA, would like to thank everyone that donated to this worthy cause. Without the generous support from the public, the creation of this memorial  would not have been possible. We would also like to thank the following for their assistance in the completion of the memorial. Jim Waring, Arizona State Senator for District 7, Joe Shelley, President of the Mesa Police Association, Williams & Associates, Lobbyists, Emerson Stiles, State of Arizona, Pat Rehse, Architectural Resource Team who designed the Memorial, Jeff Carol Davenport, Artist who sculpted the Bronze German Shepherd, George Bradbury, US Stoneworks, who supplied the granite that was imported from China, Shade Above, Concrete provider for the Memorial, and all the members of The Arizona Law Enforcement Canine Association.

The dedication ceremony would not have been a success had it not been for all the K-9 handlers and their K-9 partners who attended, representing the Department of Public Safety, the Department of Corrections, as well as all the numerous other  law enforcement agencies from around the state. We would like to thank all of you who participated in the dedication ceremony to help honor and pay tribute to all of the K-9's who gave their lives in the line of duty.

We invite you to visit the memorial at Wesley Bolin Plaza, which is located at  1700 West Washington Street, at the corner of 17th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona. We also welcome any comments or feedback you may have regarding the Memorial. Please feel free to leave your comments and suggestions in our guest book, or email them to Owen Keefe in care of, owen@azk9memorial.net.
